Winchester School Pastors
Helping Christians to be relevant to and engaged with their communities.
Winchester School Pastors launched its schools programme in January 2024, with patrols taking place in one secondary school and three primary schools.
School Pastor teams, working in pairs, visit schools during lunchtime on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, typically spending around 90 minutes on site. Each participating school receives one visit per week, and volunteers are usually scheduled for one patrol per week.
In September 2024, the programme expanded to include two additional secondary schools and two additional primary schools, extending the support offered to young people across the city.
School Pastors are recognised as trusted adults who provide a listening ear, encouragement, and support to young people in schools in a consistent manner.
Every School Pastor team is supported by a dedicated Prayer Pastor, who prays from home during each patrol. School Pastors contact their Prayer Pastor before and after every visit to share updates and receive prayer support. As a result, each school benefits from regular, ongoing prayer and encouragement.
